4H Enrollment Information

4-HOnline is open for 2024 Enrollments!

The traditional 4-H Program in Wayne Countyis open to all youth 8-18 years of age and our Clover Kid Program* is for youth ages 5-7. Ages for the 2024 year are based on the 4-Her's age as of December 31, 2023. The main focus of the 4-H Program is learning by doing. A variety of projects for all interests are offered through 4-H. The 4-H year begins in October and runs through September.

There is a $5.00/youth fee which includes 4-H Accident Insurance. Volunteers may purchase insurance ($2/volunteer) if they choose, but it is not required. This insurance will cover members/volunteers while participating in or attending regularly approved and adult supervised group 4-H activities. Youth fees will be paid online during the enrollment process. For those that do not wish to pay online, payment may be brought to the Extension Office. The enrollment will be accepted once we recieve the fee. Volunteers will bring payment to the Extension Office.

Various projects have costs as well, depending on the project you choose.

*The purpose of the Clover Kid Program is to promote the positive development of youth to become competent, caring, and contributing citizens. The learning experience is the primary reason for involvement in the program. Youth will learn about 4-H, participate in activities, and make items they can bring to the Wayne County Fair. All exhibits receive participation ribbons. Clover Kids meet once a month in November, December, February, March, April, May, and June.

4-H Volunteer / Staff Screening and Orientation
Nebraska Extension asks all volunteers to be screened through the Department of Health and Human Services for child abuse and neglect. Volunteers are screened in order to ensure a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for all youth involved with Nebraska 4-H programs and provide protection for the child, volunteer, educator, 4-H Council, Extension Board, and Nebraska Extension. The database is updated every five years on a district rotation. New volunteers and those that have not completed the process prior to 2020 will need to complete the process. Volunteers will also be responsible for covering the screening fees at the time the screening is submitted. Currently, the cost of the screening is $5.00.

In order to complete the volunteer screening, please click or copy and paste the following link: https://ecmp.nebraska.gov/DHHS-CR/CheckRequest/BeginOrgCheck/81102416. Follow all instructions in 4-HOnline. Please note that only applications started through this link will be verified as part of Nebraska 4-H.

You will be asked to create a PIN number before beginning the application. This PIN is used to access the application if you need to re-enter the site at any point during the application process. All minors (under the age of 19 in Nebraska) will need to have a notarized ID form that will need to be submitted.

After the screening is complete, you will receive an email from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) with the results of your screening. Please keep this file for your records. (You do NOT need to send this document to Nebraska 4-H.)

NEW for 2024 Volunteer Orientation-Nebraska 4-H is implementing a new 4-H Volunteer Orientation, which is part of the volunteer screening process. Direct volunteers are required to complete 4-H Volunteer Orientation during enrollment as a new volunteer and/or during the re-screening process every five years. Volunteers are invited to complete the orientation at any time. The volunteer orientation link is located with the direct volunteer screening information in 4honline or found at https://4h.unl.edu/volunteer-orientation. The volunteer orientation will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. Users are not required to complete the orientation in one session. The volunteer and the county office will receive an email upon completion.
